Digital Skills

There are a number of learning centres and programmes that offer digital skills training for people of all ages and experience.

Digital Skills Centre

Located at Bournemouth and Poole College, the Digital Skills Centre offers Digital, IT and Software courses and Apprenticeships under one roof. Facilities include a range of high tech IT equipment, spaces that mirror a digital agency, creative brainstorming and break out areas, and excellent links to major digital and IT employers.

Skills and Learning Adult Community Education

Aimed at both absolute beginners who would like to learn how to use a mobile phone, or experienced IT users looking to grow their skills, Skills and Learning Adult Community Education offers a comprehensive range of courses to help you be safer online, improve job prospects and make the most of IT.

National Careers Service

The National Career Service offers an extensive array of digital/computer courses for people of all levels.


BCHA offers a number of courses including Digital Life Skills, Beginners Digital Skills. In its first year, BCHA's free Bournemouth Digital programme enabled 132 'digitally excluded' people to acquire computer skills and is now looking for new sign-ups to help others with online knowledge and confidence.

Learn My Way

From learning how to use a computer or device and office programmes like Microsoft Word or Excel, to finding a job and using a public service online, Learn My Way from the Good Things Foundation offers a collection of resources to help anyone use the internet.


With its Outlook Training, Microsoft shows users how to do essentials like sending an email, booking a meeting, managing your calendar and organising a to-do list.

Learn for Life

Part of the Lloyds Bank Academy, Learn for Life provides more than 30 resources to help with digital skills, organisation and finance.

Digital Skills: Digital Skills for Work and Life

Accenture's Digital Skills: Digital Skills for Work and Life course provides knowledge on topics such as the meaning of 'digital', how digital is changing the ways we work and live, its impact on jobs and industries, the opportunities and challenges of digital and how to adopt a 'growth mindset'.

Digital Skills: Succeeding in a Digital World

Hosted by The Open University, Digital Skills: Succeed in a Digital World will develop confidence and skills for life online, whether study, work or everyday life. It explores a range of digital skills and practices, including digital identity, digital well-being, staying safe and legal, finding and using information and online tools, and dealing with information overload.
